ENNEAGRAM PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS PROGRAM
The Narrative Enneagram Core Program, is at the heart of our Narrative Enneagram’s Curriculum. It is freestanding and it can be completed in itself for your own personal development, or the starting point if you want to become a Narrative Enneagram Teacher or apply the Narrative Enneagram in your professional work. This is a living, growing and changing body of work that will continue to evolve as we gain new insights and enhance our teaching methods.
We are an IEA Accredited School. Pastors receive CPD points through Excelsus and we hope to soon offer the same through the International Coach Federation (ICF) and Health Profession Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

Special Programs and Workshops
The Narrative Enneagram Core Program starts with Enneagram Intensive, which is open to all and provides the basis for the other two core courses: Instincts and Subtypes and Deepening Spiritual Awareness. Each of the three courses includes panel interviews in the Narrative Tradition, somatic exercises, and the practice of self-observation and inner awareness. You may begin this program without a commitment to take all three courses.
After completing the Core Program, you may choose to continue with the Enneagram Professional Training Program . Those interested in being part of an ongoing group dedicated to personal development and lifelong learning can join our Narrative Enneagram Learning Community.
TNE offers a limited number of reduced-fee scholarships to qualifying applicants who want to attend the Enneagram Professional Training Program. There are a limited number of scholarships for each part of the training program. Application closes 2 months prior to the training.
Recipients must meet the following criteria:
See Enneagram Jewelry. 100% of the Enneagramsa pendant money will go to the EPTP Scholarship Fund. This fund supports students with financial need that wants to become Narrative Enneagram Teachers.
Our premier offering, Enneagram Intensive, offers a deep, transformative experience of the Enneagram, focusing on the integration of psychology, spirituality and somatics. This updated course offers a full examination of the nine distinct type structures, with expanded attention to the spiritual and somatic aspects of each type. Another key element of the training is how the types show up in relationships.
The first three days have been redesigned to include refinements to the basic proposition (psychology), the basics of self-reflection (spirituality), and body awareness (somatics).
The final three days are devoted to your path of self-development. You will learn the defense mechanisms for each Enneagram type and how to work with your own patterns of reactivity.
You also will be encouraged to find the aspects of your own type that offer opportunities for growth and transformation. We will explore the following questions:
Enneagram Intensive includes two rounds of type panels in the Narrative Tradition, an introduction to the Universal Growth Process, guided interactions related to current relationship issues, pre-recorded meditations by Helen Palmer, short didactics, self-observation and movement practices, and small-group exercises.
Deepening Spiritual Awareness is focused on the transformative potential of your own type structure for higher levels of being. Our format blends the profound somatic practice of grounded presence with contemplative methods for emptying and focusing the mind.
These “skillful means” build an inner capacity to recognize and relax emotional passions as they arise – thus “converting vice to virtue” – the pure life force that sustains us.
These spiritual activities will be debriefed from different type perspectives through panel interviews in the Narrative Tradition, short didactics, inner practices, somatic exercises and small groups.
Note: Ideally, Enneagram Intensive is the best place to begin our Core Program. However, we understand that many students have prior knowledge of the Enneagram, so this course also is open by permission to intermediate and advanced Enneagram students who have studied with other teachers.
Each Enneagram type has three important variations known as instincts. While everyone uses all three instincts – self-preservation, social and one-to-one – we each rely on one of these as our primary survival strategy. This combination of type and instinct determines our “subtype,” which creates a particular focus in daily life and distinctive style in relationships. In fact, subtypes are as important as personality types when it comes to daily life, where relationships, especially primary relationships, are largely shaped by instinct and emotion.
Our instinctual subtype also influences the decisions we make about major projects and life goals.
Working with the Enneagram’s instinctual subtypes is a vital part of inner work and returning to our essential self. The 27 subtypes also illuminate the important variations among people of the same personality type. In key relationships, understanding subtypes brings these primary areas of focus to each person’s awareness and provides a language to describe similarities and differences.
The primary subtype focus shows up in our relationships in three vital areas:
1. Self-preservation: Security issues reflected in personal warmth, finances, health and family
2. Social: Belonging and recognition through group participation, social structures and friendships
3. One-to-one: A quest for union in individual connections, sexuality, intimacy and spiritual
practice
The format consists of short presentations, panel interviews in the Narrative Tradition, guided
practices and discussion. This three-day workshop will invite you:
Some knowledge of the Enneagram is expected.
In this expertly constructed training, you will learn how to facilitate self-discovery in your clients. From neuroscience we know that learning through experience rather than being given an insight is hugely impactful in creating new neural pathways that transform rather than merely inform.
You will learn step-by-step how to conduct typing interviews to assist Enneagram newcomers in determining their type. You will develop articulate questions, learn the process of inquiry and how to listen deeply, and provide interviewees with guidance that allows them to discover their Enneagram type.
Modules include differentiating one type from another, non-verbal aspects of type, and knowledge of your own biases in conducting interviews. The training culminates in a rare hand- on opportunity to practice your skills by interviewing volunteers from the community, with feedback from instructors.
The overall purpose of this process is to help clients discover what motivates patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. Type cannot be determined from external behaviors, but only from a deeper understanding of focus of attention, underlying motivations and lived experience.
The Internship provides a supportive structure for gaining practice as a Narrative Enneagram Teacher. You will be working with a TNE mentor.

Certified Narrative Enneagram Teacher
The Narrative Enneagram Learning Community is for experienced students who want to continue their journey of self-development in an ongoing community of Enneagram practitioners. The Learning Community curriculum joins crucial elements of spiritual practice with psychological and somatic structure. This allows us to internally recognize and relax reactive type patterns as they arise instead of automatically acting them out. This program brings the Enneagram to life by offering facilitation and support for integrating psychology, spirituality and “felt-sense” somatic awareness.
The Learning Community is not a workshop or training, but rather an ongoing community of twice-yearly gatherings, in-person or online, for learning and support. The community itself creates the transformational field that is critical to the personal and spiritual development that occurs within our gatherings. While there is no requirement for continued attendance, it is highly encouraged that you attend at least once a year, allowing the community to deepen in practice and relationship over time.
Through panel inquiry and inner practice, the Learning Community will build or develop the competencies of:
Preparation
Our guidelines for membership are completion of the Enneagram Intensive, Deepening Spiritual Awareness, and Instincts and Subtype workshops, which gives one familiarity in the following core competencies:
“How do you relax your type structure at the point of suffering instead of going on automatic? We have brought spiritual method to this human dilemma.”
