I attended my first Enneagram workshop in Lilongwe, Malawi, in January 2000. From day one, the Enneagram was an aha-moment for me. I never saw "power" or "perfection" as gifts. For the first time I could identify with these gifts and I realized how different they are from my own. I became aware of my own "shadow-side" and how difficult it is for me to change. Realizing these differences has helped me to cultivate patience and compassion, not only with myself, but also with my fellow human beings.

The Narrative Tradition makes use of panels when teaching the Enneagram Types. Each Type speaks for itself. I fell in love with this narrative tradition. I could identify with the people that sat on my panel and shared my/our point of view. What I like about the Narrative Tradition is that although we have facilitators, each participant is a teacher in his/her own right.

I believe the Enneagram to be the most effective tool to achieve self-awareness, to improve relationships and teamwork, to reduce conflict and to appreciate human diversity and spiritual growth. I have also found it extremely helpful in raising and parenting our children.

Teaching the Enneagram is like eating chocolate every day and not gaining weight. I love what I do and see it as a blessing to work with people that have teachable spirits. It is a privilege to see people's faces light up when they realize the biggest gift is this journey within. They suddenly understand that they cannot know and understand others if they don't know and understand themselves. They cannot I love others if they do not love themselves.

The Enneagram helps us to become free from these worn-out patterns that keep limits us from being who we really are. The Enneagram is a journey to freedom!
